Seasonal Vaccines in South Tees

Seasonal vaccines in Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland

Some vaccines are given every year to protect people from serious illness, especially during the colder months – these are called seasonal vaccines. Getting these vaccines helps keep you and the people around you safe and well.

Flu vaccine

The flu vaccine helps protect people who are more likely to become very poorly from the flu.

You can get a free NHS flu vaccine if you:

  • are aged 65 or over

  • gave a long-term health condition (like asthma or diabetes)

  • are pregnant

  • live in a care home

  • are the main carer for someone older or disabled, or if you get Carer’s Allowance

  • live with someone who has a weakened immune system (this means their body finds it harder to fight off illness)

  • work in health or social care - you may be able to get the flu vaccine through your job

The flu vaccine is offered every autumn. You can get it at your GP surgery or your local pharmacy.

If you are not eligible for a free flu vaccine, you can still choose to pay for it at your pharmacy.

COVID-19 vaccine

People aged 75 and over, or those living in care homes for older adults, are offered COVID-19 booster vaccines every spring and autumn.

These booster vaccines help to keep your protection strong over time.

The NHS will contact you when it’s time for your booster.

You may also be able to get your vaccine at pop-up clinics across South Tees.
