You’ve Got This - South Tees

You’ve Got This (YGT) is a Sport England Place Partnership that’s working to make physical activity a part of everyday life across South Tees.

Our aim is to support people to move more as part of their daily routine, with the long-term goal of making active lives a way of life.

Being active is important for both your body and your mind. It can improve fitness, reduce stress, and support your overall wellbeing. But helping people who move less to become more active isn’t always straightforward.

That’s why we look at the bigger picture. We focus on how places, services, and communities can work together to make it easier for everyone to be active.

This means creating spaces and opportunities where moving more feels natural. It could be walking, cycling, gardening, or joining a local group activity. It’s not just about sport or going to the gym - everyday movement counts.

We bring together local organisations through The Exchange, which is a partnership network that supports and promotes physical activity across the area. We also work closely with Tees Valley Sport to help make sure everyone has the chance to move more in ways that work for them.

By making changes across the whole system, we aim to remove barriers and help build a healthier, more active South Tees for everyone.

We’re working on a range of local programmes to help people across South Tees move more, feel better, and live healthier lives. Here are a few examples of what’s happening in your local area:

  • Flippin Pain™

Flippin’ Pain is a public health programme that helps people understand persistent (long-term) pain in a new way.

It’s all about changing how we think about, talk about, and manage pain that doesn’t go away - with the aim of helping people live well.

Find out more on the Flippin’ Pain website.

  • PREP-WELL

Prep Well was a local programme that helped people improve their fitness levels before a big operation. It focused on both body and mind, so people could feel better and recover quicker after surgery.

People who joined Prep Well often felt stronger and got better faster after their operation.

At first, the programme was run in person, and later it was also available online.

You can find out more about Prep Well on the Prep Well website.

  • Tees Valley Active Schools

Tees Valley Active Schools is a toolkit designed to help schools build more movement into everyday school life.
It supports changes to policies, routines, and environments so that physical activity becomes a natural part of the school day and culture.

  • Creating Active and Healthy Places in South Tees

Planning and transport are key to helping people move more.
Well-designed places make it easier to walk, cycle, and be active in daily life.

You’ve Got This (YGT) works with local partners across South Tees to support movement that fits people’s lives.

Each partner brings unique strengths, knowledge, experience, and ideas. Together, we can make a bigger impact and build a healthier, more active South Tees.
